Came across this in my morning reading and figured I'd share:

There are several threads about this now, but the main one is in the 5th gen forum.

TRD Pro for 4R is
Bilstein Shocks
red 'upgraded' coils
Aluminum skid plate
retro grille
black wheels
WildPeak ATs (?)
and available in black, white, or that new red that kinda looks orange.

I think they're pretty cool but I was hoping they'd be more exciting, those things are literally the most common mods on this forum.

Looks like still no TRD supercharger for the 4Runner :cry2:, but I still like what they did with it...

I feel like my standard extended travel Icons are better than these Bilsteins, eh? Kind of sad. If I ended up with a TRD Pro T4R, it would lose everything that made it a TRD except for the badges.

I 100% agree. I think that Toyota could have done way better. Seeing as how it was supposed to be a Raptor chaser, I feel very let down. About the only thing I like is the Grille and the Color. They can keep the other mods.

Long Travel Suspension, supercharger, new clearanced fenders, bumpers, and full skids! That would be a worthy adversary for the Raptor.

Yea seriously. You can supercharge a Tundra and throw an LT suspension on it and get more travel and horsepower than a Raptor for cheaper.

Realize that they need to back this with an all inclusive warranty. You can't take as many risks. Aftermarket is aftermarket for good reason.

You make a good point. Sounds to me that TRD has some R&D work ahead of them.

This is a good point, but honestly it wouldn't be THAT difficult for Toyota to do. If they were going to make a serious Raptor chaser, they could. It all boils down to whether or not they can justify the business case and if they feel that they can make money on it, period.

GM and Lingenfelter are going to make a legitimate run at the Raptor market with the Reaper, but I don't think that's what Toyota wants to do with these vehicles. It's just little tweaked variants of the the trucks like the TRD's, Trial Teams, Rock Warriors, etc. type builds. Just throwing a few parts at the truck to set them apart and give enthusiasts who aren't DIY guys something to covet.

I mean, TRD arleady has the superchargers done for the 5.7 and 4.0. Long travel and extended fenders should be cake for them, since they already own the design of the original parts. All they'd need is to stretch dimensions here and there and beef up parts in certain locations which their software would tell them where to do so. As opposed to aftermarket guys who basically have to reverse engineer everything. So all they have to do is the same as what SVT and Lingenfelter did and buy Fox shocks, which already exist and slap them on there. Done deal. It's not like Toyota builds there own shocks, they put Tokico's and Bilstiens on their trucks. Probably easier just to put another Billy on there, since they already have them online as a supplier. It's all about dollars and cents.
