Toyota Sirius Signal Loss

Does anyone else or is it just me can't get a true Sirius satellite signal in my Toyota? I have a 2015 SR5 Premium 4Runner and I lose signal or intermittent interruption of Sirius Satellite Radio interruptions on a regular basis. My wife's 2012 Ford Escape never loses signal even in the worst locations but this Toyota just gives me a fit!!!!! Everyone I know that has an American make (Ford, Dodge & Chevy) do not experience this at all but everyone I know that has a foreign make (Toyota, Nissan, etc...) report the same problems as me. Has anyone heard of a fix for this? I even had at my dealer after only having for less than a month and I got a smoke screen? Is this a bigger problem than they want to admit? I am currently waiting for a case manager from Toyota USA to call me back regarding this and I am quite curious to see what they say and to hear back from anyone else on this forum. Please provide input. Thanks.

I just traded my 2010 VW Jetta TDI in on a 2015 4Runner last month. Besides the excellent miles per gallon, the one thing I miss about that Jetta was the Sirius reception. The only time it ever went out was under a bridge or in a tunnel. In the 4Runner, however, it goes out constantly, seemingly every time I drive under something so small as a tree branch.

Both the Jetta and the 4Runner have nearly identical shark-fin antennas, but my guess is that the one on the 4Runner is defective in some way. I have plans to take it to the dealership but have not done so yet.

Let me know what happens in your case.

I was hoping that the fin style antenna would be an improvement over the puck style that was on my old Tacoma Off Road but it isn't. :wtf:

That being said, I've got satellite in both of my cars, bike and house and will never go back to commercial radio. I hate the signal drop in these Toyotas but I guess I've gotten used to it.

I have the same issue in my 2015 4Runner Trail. I took it to the dealership where they told me they could find nothing wrong with it. It is basically useless unless I'm on a totally open highway, at which point it sort of works, but still not great.

I also have a 2012 Jetta TDI that gets EXCELLENT reception. Even under large bridges, in cities and in valleys with heavy tree cover I almost never lose reception. It's definitely an issue with the antenna Toyota put on these things.

I'm going to look around for aftermarket antennas and see if I can replace the one that came on the truck. If I have any success, I will let post here again.

I have a 2015 Limited, and have the same issues. My 09 Accord Coupe, and 08 MDX rarely lost reception. There are days I wonder if that one wisp of a cloud is blocking it. Very disappointed.

Still in the trial period on my SR5P but I've had no issues. When I lived in very hilly terrain my Tacomas signal often got blocked in a deep valley with bad angle on the satellite. Both have the sharkfin antenna and no issues on flat terrain.
