Toyota "stepped up"

Bought my 07 4Runner about two months ago and have had it in the shop at least five or six times for little things but still has robbed me of the enjoyment of a new vehicle. I emailed Toyota and told them of my displeasure with the vehicle - it is not all the dealerships fault but even the dealership was slow to move on some of these issues - I've been in a loaner it seems more than the 4Runner. But, lo and behold, I get a call from Toyota today and they are giving me the Platinum Plus warranty for FREE!! I was shocked because they really didn't have to do anything but this at least gives me peace of mind for the next 7 years.

Sometimes it does pay to contact someone and tell them that you have a concern and do your best to be professional about and ask for what you think is fair.

:awais: :) :D :p :bigok:

Paint issues on the front hood (requires four trips to the dealership), tire pressure warning sensor malfunction (two days to find and fix), scuffed skidplate (another day), steering wheel shimmy (as reported on this board - they had to switch the Dunlops with a set of Bridgestones - another day). Let's just say that I was at the dealership every Wednesday (my day off) for the last seven or so weeks and it was for some things that are quality issues - nothing mechanical. Also - if there are no quality issues the "Platinum Plus" upgrade will not have cost them a cent.

Something of note - I owned a 2003 Honda Accord and the sales manager at the local Toyota dealer was trying hard to sell me a Toyota for years (my daughter bought her Camry at this dealership). He was always on the "Toyota Quality" kick and when I was having these issues for some reason I couldn't get him involved so I took matters into my own hand and got Toyota involved. I was upset enough that I was going to hire a lawyer to get my money back.

At the end of the day I have security for the next seven years and if the vehicle is as good as they say then it won't cost Toyota a dime. It could cost them a lot - it could cost them nothing. They stepped up because they put the warranty offer on the table. It is what companies should do if you are dissatisfied.

I am now a happier customer and will tell people Toyota stands by their products. Would not have done that a few weeks ago.

Wow! that's just great! sorry about your problems but the warranty is good to have... definitely peace of mind, I hope you don't have to use the warranty.

I was surprised but, yes, the security of that 7 yr 75000 warranty gives me peace of mind. I'm sure most of the things that were issues are resolved but now I will be sleeping better with the extra warranty. Again, props to Toyota!!

The platinum is only good for 75,000 now, I thought the extra warranties covered you until 100k. I know my 02 is covered through 100k, but I bought it certified so I guess that's different.

Yeah my warranty is 7yr 100K miles, sure does make for peace of mind. Mine was bought with my 4Runner though, it was a used Certified vehicle. I usually do all my own work on my vehicles, but now having two kids, and the work schedule I have, larger repairs just arent possible anymore. I remember swapping engines in my truck in an evening and driving it to work the next day. No time for that now LOL.

Glad Toyota stepped up for you though. Sometimes people really do get decent service from time to time!!! :bigok:

There are various plans available for the Platinum warranty, with and without deductibles. The maximum coverage is 7 years/100k miles.

From TFS.

Why would anyone consider having to pay a deductible when after the first visit the additional $50 in the $0 deductible plan would pay for itself.
