Looks like toyota is getting into the production "baja truck" game themselves..all I can say is OMFG. I'm a Jeep guy (4runner is my dads now) but this is kick ass. Like a poor mans raptor! haha

Amazing how a little bit of tweaking can fix an ugly duckling. I could go without the graphics, but if it comes in white, I think it can look pretty bad@$$.

Remote resi shocks. :reddance: They should've just gone all the way and throw in a mid-travel Total Chaos kit and/or add the SC.

Yeah not a big fan of the graphics myself. Though like you said, in white I think it will be a pretty sweet truck. Supercharger would be drool worthy.

Doesn't say yet. But I would imagine they will have an option for it. Hopefully it can take the abuse it's advertised for unlike the Ford Raptor and it's weak frame issue.

It does come in a double cab. From the article: "The Baja Series will be available on Tacoma Access and Double Cab 4×4 models."

It'll probably suffer the same or worst fate than the Raptor. Open box frame. A few cases of the engine mount getting pushed into the frame. :moping:

The Raptor designers, for whatever reason, notched the frame for the bump stop. So, you take a strong, fully boxed frame, and notch it. Guess where you now have a very weak point among many very strong points. Ford claims that the drivers overloaded the suspension to the point that the bump stop was hit with a force far higher than designed for, and that is probably true, but it still makes me wonder why they didn't design the bump stop to where the frame wasn't notched. Personally I'd prefer a suitably sized c-channel frame that distributes the bending, thus staying in the elastic deformation range instead of plastic, instead of a fully boxed frame with a notch that creates a stress concentration. (Probably a moot point because there is no way I'd drive like that in anything other than a true long travel vehicle. These are production vehicles, afterall.)

I'd hope that Toyota is reinforcing their frames expecting that people will do similar things. I'm hearing pricing will be around $35k.

well that just sucks. you might as well just build your own, and save some money in the process. OFF TOPIC[ so i just got my first ride and drive in a new tundra with the 5.7L V8 and OMFG it has power. love the sound of the engine. it was an amazing feeling. just awsome truck. so after the drive i had to go home to change, if you know what i mean.haha]

Copy the Raptor much? It does look pretty cool though, I will admit that much. I'd rather have the Raptor or a full size pickup.

I know this thread is old but I just started seeing these things at work lately and i have to say they are bad ass! I'm not really an off road guy but these trucks look to be stacked up nicely. I haven't drooled this much over a tacoma since the Xrunners. I think I possibly found a new friend for my 4Runner.
