finally got around to trying it out on my windows 7 machine, still got the same results, I think I may have gotten a bad copy of hacked chinese software.

Do you have a 64 bit or 32 bit machine?

64 bit is incompatible with the driver.

If you've got windows7, what version is it?
Is it 32 or 64 bit?

When you plug your cable into the the vehicle and the USB port does the red LED come on?

Did you install the drivers that came with the disk/software or did windows automatically find the drivers for you?

Let us know as much info as possible. We can help you out a lot more then. Don't worry about a "bad copy" of the software... If it truly is the case, there is a "workaround" to it... Had to use it on the Macbook Pro (slot loading CD drive + mini CD= NO NO)

32bit windows 7, also you can see earlier I tried using my macbook pro and parallels with a windows xp virtual machine. The green light comes on when I plug the cable in.
 
Got around the setting this up today. I have a MacBook Air and couldn't get this working in a Windows XP 32-bit VM on VMware Fusion. I ended up pulling out an old Dell Laptop running XP 32-bit and it worked fine. I could re-direct the cable into the VM but it wouldnt communicate properly with the X-Horse app to sync.
 
Worked for me, i just disabled my seatbelt buzzer! Just thought I would add my input. I bought the below cable/software, but the software was jacked up on the mini cd for some reason so I downloaded version 7.12 off the web and it included instructions for how to activate it. download Link below for those of you needing the software:

I am sure I am being an idiot about this, but I can't get past the registration screen because I don't have the "New Key". I tried the US and OTHER numbers that were in the Notepad document titled code, but it didn't work.

What am I missing?
 
Finally got the cable last night. its running on my mac with parallels desktop windows 7 32bit. Im out on my lunch break, fiddling around with the software :hungry:

Never mind, I see the post right above mine had the solution. :hiding:

I'll try it out this evening. Glad I keep an old XP laptop around.
 
That was probably the best $30 I spent on my 4Runner yet.

I got rid of the seat belt buzzer on both seats
Increased the length of time the puddle lights stay on
Turned off the auto unlock when in park mode (the wife really hated that)
Enabled the ability to open the windows with the remote or key an close them with the key.

I then drove my entire neighborhood without my seat belt on :flipoff::police: did that feel good!
 
Well having problem with either the cable or software. everything works Except Customized Settings. Tried going in to change the warning-Nothing. After multiple attempts and restarted the computer and program. Still nothing. Tried different versions of techstream. 7.11.xx, 7.10.xx 6.xx.xx all nothing. Pulled out a old laptop with XP. still doesnt work. Anyone else have this problem? At this point, I dont think its the software but still could be.

That's the only reason I haven't bought one yet and I really want a copy. Every site that lists it for sale is a known virus distribution point (both the site it self as well as what they sell). That implies the software is either an illegal copy or not the real thing to start with.

It is not a legit copy, hence why you run it in a VM that you don't care about.

You're welcome to purchase the real deal for $1345, plus $1100 per year required subscription for the lite version, or $8K for the full Techstream, plus subscription.
