I have been reading a lot of postings on how particular you all guys were when performing service on your 4R's, i wanted to do my own diff oil change and driveshaft lube but being in an apartment was not comfortable getting down the vehicle to perform the service with constant vehicular movement in the community and finally decided to go to a toyota dealership, told him on the change of oils and lubing the shaft, the service advisor agreed to do a synthetic for $180, after few minutes i went into the shop to check the quality of the oil he was draining out and observed that the mechanic had regular oil then after talking to the service he said that toyota recommends regular oil and he is doing that and he will be adding a synthetic additive to it, he agreed to reduce the price to $149, then after few minutes i went back to the mechanic to make sure that he has lubed the shaft and to my horror he said that there are no points to lube since it was a closed shaft i asked him to lift the vehicle and showed him the zerks then he got a grease gun and lubed all the points with the same grease, i was totally unhappy with the service and talked to the service manager about the shaft and to my horroe the SM said the same thing that there are no points to lube since it was a closed shaft then i had to tell the same stuff abt the zerks after which he said that he will speak to the mechanic about it, i walk of the door after paying the bill and see a writing on the wall "Some of the best toyota technicians walk thru this door", god what's happening to America every where the quality customer service seems to go down the tubes.
