Additionally, you can select a tune for traditional bolt-on modifications such as cat-back exhaust systems, or, if you make future modifications, your Unichip can be reprogrammed by Unichip or a Unichip technician to work with additional modifications.

No, i just got an email this morning from that website since i have ordered from them in the past and it had that on it so i checked it out, seems to be a new product. I just wanted to run it by some people and see what they thought

I am and will always be leary of a product that can over-ride the ECU. Worst case scenario...the chip hard codes a new problem into the ECU.

For 5-9% of increase, I would not be interested.

I know what you are sayin...i mean i would trust this more than lets say those places that you can send your ECU to and they will reprogram it. If this does what it says it does, like other piggy-back modules it will just adjust settings after they come from the ECU and won't "mess with" the ECU internally in any way. But who knows...I have no experience with this so thats why i wanted to see if anyone else had

Not really sure...I would think it wouldnt if it just modifies codes between the ECU and the engine as it is not modifying anything in the internal ECU, but who knows

The factory ecu wont evn know its there. It interfaces and sends a normal signal to the factory ecu, thereby not setting off any codes. Many are using this mod on www.tundrasolutions.com
check it out. Its a great product for using with a supercharger. If anyone is looking, I may have a supercharger for sale. I may be switching jobs and would need a different vehicle than the 4runner, and if so, don't want to put it on for nothing. Drop me a line if interested, would only want what I paid for it.

you mentioned it better with a supercharger, why wouldnt it be good for use without a supercharger?

I only mean its better since the % of hp gain is larger with a forced induction motor. I'tll get up to 20% more power with a blower, and 5-9% un blown.

I am in the process of looking at posts at TundraSolutions about the unichip but based on what you have read do you think its worth it? I have a non-supercharged 4Runner

I think its worth it. If I do get around to putting my supercharger on, i will install the unichip.
Of course, I don't want to tell people how to spend their money.

for that price.......i don't thing 5-9% performance gain is worth it. i think it's only worth it if i had a SC.

Yeah, I agree...SC + unichip is $$$$, of course performance increases costs money, just wish i had some money like that layin around then I would go for it

Not worth it without the sc. you are better off getting a Borla exhaust and getting the same performance gains.

I think URDUSA.com sells a similar item at half the cost.
