The model selection screen is better with all of them popping up at once. The dramatic "fade in" of the model menus on the old site was a bit tedious. The model list is grouped by type (car, SUV, etc.), but you can't select a type. You can rollover a type and highlight those models, but as soon as you move the mouse away, they all come back again. Let me click the type and keep it selected, or list the vehicles alphabetically, or arrange the view such that the groupings are more obvious. The current layout is great if I don't know which model I want, but if I know I want to see 4Runner, I don't want to hunt through 16 pictures.
The page with model features/specs/options has a nice new feature - you can put any combination of trim levels side by side. The technology has to improve, though - it's way too slow. At first, I thought that it didn't remember what model of vehicle I chose, but it turns out I had to wait longer. (Yes, I have broadband Internet.)
I think the navigation got a little harder. When looking at a model, your available links used to be handy and obvious with everything listed on the left side of the screen; now the links are hidden and broken into three arbitrary categories. I really don't know the difference between "Explore" and "Research".
One final gripe... I also don't like how the "Build and Price" navigation option prompts you for your ZIP code inside of a pull-down menu. Who puts an input box in a pull-down menu?!? I didn't care for that pop-up input box with the old site, either, but it's worse now because of the menu. In a navigation bar or menu, I expect a click to go somewhere - I don't expect a question to pop up. The first page of the Build and Price application should ask for the ZIP code.
