toytec eibach with bilstein front suspension

so I bought the bilstein shocks and toytec eibach coils and they came on the top setting so I installed them like that and ran them for a couple of weeks but damn they rode terrible, I decided to wait until my camburg uca's came in to change them to the bottom setting (which I did) and now I have crazy rake? (running lc 7.5 wraps in the back) so has anyone used this setup on the second notch? if so how does it ride?

I currently have the Tacoma bilsteins on the second notch with the eibach coils. The ride is pretty rough, and i feel like i'm getting way too much lift which is hard on the CVs, so i might go to the lowest setting.

I figured that it was the middle setting so it was safe to set it there, and now I feel like moving it down a notch.

thanks for the input! I might leave them on the bottom notch and see how I adjust to the looks of it.

Well then i'll have to see how much lower it gets.

I don't really mind the rake, I just want to have a decent lift where the front doesnt constantly rub while also being comfortable.

I'm not sure if that's possible though.

This may help you out.

FWIW I'm running the tundra billies (5 notch version) on the second notch, which is similar to the bottom notch on the tacoma billies (3 notch) and I'm at about 23" hub to fender

WOW!!!! Thank you! That's the thread I've been looking for. I guess i'll move it down to the bottom setting then, because i have around 25" hub to fender. How bad is this for my CVs?

25" is usually a number you hear from people with good sized body lifts haha. So it's pretty damn tall. And do you even still have CV boots with that angle? I'm no CV expert but I can't imagine it would be good. Even with my 23" I run a diff drop so my CVs act as if it's only 22". Did you do any heavy wheeling with them that high? If not then they are probably ok, I would just drop them down before you do. Even if you did wheel them, if they aren't broken or clicking in 4x4 then you should be good to go.

More because I'm curious then any kind of scientific aspect you should post up some pics of your truck with all that room up front, and a cv angle shot just for kicks.

Here's driver side. The boots seem to be alright on this side with no grease leaking.

However, the passenger side is very bad.

I have the tundra bilsteins and the eibachs, just went recently from the lowest of the 5 to step 2 from the bottom of the 5 and it's got quite a bit harsh. Not to bad, but it's been pretty stiff if I drive over speed bumps anything more than 10mph.
Haven't had a chance to see how they feel offroad yet but with my OME891s they sit pretty square even now.

With the tundras on the lowest setting I had a very small take in the rear but I didn't mind it. You could only really tell the rake in photos which is why when my CVs went I up'd the bilsteins to the second setting to sit even.

I don't mind the harshness to much but I'm afraid without any more weight up front it might be quite stiff offroad.

Only time will tell, and or a front plate bumper. I've been keeping my eyes on ARB for a sale.

I am running the Toytec/Eibachs along with the Tundra 5100s on the second notch. I don't think it's harsh at all. It is firm but not too firm. But, telling someone how their truck rides is like trying to tell someone how their exhaust sounds, so take it for what it's worth. With this setup I'm measuring 23 1/2" from center of hub to fender.

I'd recommend getting them axles tended to very soon. Is there any grease left in your passenger side inner boot? Also, you do not want those bellows touching like that on your outer boots. They will tear from rubbing. If you're gonna run that high, maybe consider some long travel boots. I just took my outer boots, removed the clamps, stretched them further up the axle and re-clamped. I run the Taco Billie's (3 perch) on the lowest setting with the Eibach 3" coils and the OME 890/5100's in back. Lift amount is fine but it does ride pretty harsh. I kinda prefer driving the wife's '01 around town with the stock suspension. There's a giant difference going over bumpy streets. I don't mind, I know it's a truck not a Cadillac. Just my thoughts.

Well I've been driving on them for a little bit and saw how harsh they were from day 1. I tried stretching that inner boot, but the rubber is so old it just broke off.

I started to notice a front end vibration two weeks ago, so I've been driving my dad's 93 2wd pickup.

I'll be taking it to suspension plus this weekend to have them lower it. I need to eventually reboot my CV though, so which long travel boots would you recommend?

http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/143267-i-dont-think-normal.html Check out DirtDawg's post towards the bottom. I chose instead to order rebuilt OEM axles with Long travels already installed from CVJ Axles, Inc. in Denver.

Update on my suspension.

I took it into Suspension Plus 2 days ago and had them lower the suspension down a notch to the lowest setting.

It's about a thousand times better! The suspension actually compresses over speed bumps now. I wish I had just done this from the beginning. Now onto replacing my steering rack bushings and CV boot.

The Eibach/Toytec coils are a 3 inch lift by themselves. Anything other than the bottom setting on the Tacoma 5100's will cause them to give way too much lift.
