ToyTec Lift Kit? any good?

Hello guys,

I have my 4runer in stock stage, i was thinking about getting me a lift kit but something not that expensive.

I was looking at the best seller of yoytec...

Toytec stuff is good stuff, but I wouldn't do spacers. There are cheaper ways of going with a full coil lift.

Depending on how much rear lift you want, 7 or 8 wrap LC coils can be had for $80-100.
Cheap shocks for those would be Tokiko OEM replacement for land cruisers, which will fit 3-4" lift for 4runners.

For the front, you could piece together OME stuff from toytec, or get used TRD tundra front struts.

I agree with Ripcord... don't go with spacers if you can avoid it, the PO of my runner had them on there and I replaced everything with the Toytec Ultimate kit. Their stuff is good!

Buying the parts in different locations its a bit difficult and espensive for me since im from outside us, if we are talking about the toytec best seller, do i need to get something besides the kit?

Hey there!

As others stated, the Ultimate Kit will give you a better ride quality both on and off road compared to the Best Seller. However, it is named the "best seller" for a reason. It is a great kit to lift your 4runner while being on a budget.

If you plan to do any off-roading I would recommend getting a lift that replaces your shocks and springs.

You could go with some height adjustable 5100's in the front:
Front Bilstein Height adjustable front 5100 shocks - Toytec Lifts: Toyota Lift Kits: FJ Cruiser Lift Kits, Tacoma Lift Kits, Tundra Lift Kits, 4 Runner Lift Kits, Sequoia Lift Kits, Toyota Truck Lift Kits
With these, you can use your stock springs, but for better ride quality I would recommend replacing the springs with these in the front as well:

As for the rear, like others said, you could try to find some LC coils at a junk yard or something. Or you could go with some OME coils and rear Bilstein Shocks.

Saving up does little for instant gratification, lol.

I recently bought the lift in question, with 891 rears and diff drop. I'm very happy with it. If you're used to driving something plush I'd get the 890's. It rides hard but I like it.

For the shocks I went a little cheap, bought some Rough Country Nitro 9000 for the four corners, but people on here have had nice things to say. They were inexpensive for sure.

I imagine at some point in the future I'll ditch the spacers and OEM springs up front and get a nice set of coil overs from ToyTec and be done with it.* Till then my itch is scratched.

Done with the suspension that is, the mods will continue! Wife be damned! I want that addicted offroad front bumper in a bad way!

As far as the lift, if you plan on keeping your 4Runner for awhile. I agree with saving up and do it right the first time. As Ripcord mentions, there are many choices when it comes to choosing a lift. All deliver there own quirks and different levels of ride comfort for a lifted SUV.

A stiff riding lift is much more tolerable to a young'in with soild kidney mounts as well as the pocket book.

Having said that, this softer elderly soul prefers to spend some of my sons inheritance on the best for my kidneys and Okole.

You definitely get what you pay for when it comes to lifts. However, we all understand budgets and how they work against our modding. LOL. Good luck with your choice.
