Spacer Lift Install

I got my toytec spacer lift and am a little disappointed. Their directions are not very thorough and dont include directions for installing the rear spacers or dealing with the xreas. I emailed them and they told me that they dont offer support for dealing with the xreas. I responded asking why, and am waiting for a response, but it makes me nervous that they wont say anything about it. For now I am contemplating returning it and going with the cornfed, but dont want to deal with the hassel if it isnt necessary. The only reason I didnt do this in the first place was because I wanted a 3/1.5. I am going to do it myself, and so far dont feel very comfertable with their customer service or the fact that they are not commenting on the xreas.

Anyways, I know there are alot of good writeups for installing spacer lifts, but for some reason I cant find much. If you have the link, have any experience with toytec's products or customer service, or have any helpful install tips, I would really appreciate it.

I am going to start on friday night and finish up saturday in time to put the new wheels and tires on and get it aligned.

His site has directions for the Daystar lift on a 4R with XREAS. This should be similar enough to the Toytec to get you where you need to be. Print out all the pictures he's got. They will really help.

I recieved a response from toytec saying they suggest taking it to an installer, and dont want to be liable for the xreas, which I understand. But I am still going to install on friday. He said you have to disconnect the xreas, but I thought I remembered reading that it is possible to install with out disconnecting. Anyways, I am still hoping to get a few tips from people who have installed a spacer lift so it goes as smooth and quickly as possible. Thanks.

I would definitely not disconnect. Only evil can come of that. It can be done without disconnecting but must be done carefully.

Actually if you disconnect the Xreas in the correct spot it's not an issue at all. Some here have done it. If I ever put a lift on I will do it.

The dealer had one of my shocks and coil off looking for a rattle . There are valves in the which prevent them from de-pressurizing . (per the tech at the dealer,but I watched them do it)

Would sure make the install easier. I know a few members have done it that way.

You don't have to disconnect X-REAS to install the spacers.

You can disconnect X-REAS to make the installation go easier and smoother. This way you don't have to try and work the spacer, spring and shock under the wheel well. However, if you do disconnect X-REAS to remove the shock from the 4Runner it must be done a specific connection, where there's a valve that keeps the fluid from being lost and any leaks to a very minimum. There's a thread and PDF where Toyota lists the disconnection point. (Some have removed X-REAS and sold it, and others have reinstalled it back without any problems.) If the hydraulic line is disconnected at the shock, that half of the X-REAS system is damaged and will need to be replaced.
