Toytec lifts / spring questions

How come nobody ever talks about them , seems like they have quite a few options for the 4th Gen's.

I'm not sure if any of them are Xreas compatible.

On a 4th gen , why could you not just get some longer springs , like some OME instead of spacers ??

Which would enable you to tweek your ride quality
with different type of springs ?????

You absolutely can get longer springs instead of spacers. I just installed a set of custom ordered rear springs that are 1" longer than stock & 15% stiffer. The work great.

LC springs are a common swap for a few inches of lift on 3rd gen Runners, should work for 4th gen too.

Maybe because of the Xreas ??

Xreas or not , I dont understand why you could not swap out springs ??

Chalk , a lot easier with the SR5 and no xreas. I like the benefits of my Sport package but wonder how much different the Xreas helps over the NON X.

Falls - Yes, way easier without Xreas. I basically replaced the shocks & springs all the way around and am real happy with the result. I haven't driven a Xreas 'runner so I really don't know how it differs from non. I found the stock SR5 suspension very soft and would bottom out on a speed bump. Mo' betta now.

Back is pretty easy to mod it's the front that could be holding us back? I would love to get something more than a spacer up front.

I run an OME spring in the back and cut down the spacer 1 inch to get the custom lift height. So that would make it about 5 inches over stock unloaded. No matter how much I load it up it will never sag lower than the front.

Your running the OME springs and Revtek spacers with Xreas?

if you do a search many has done the OME setup and took out the XREAS. From what I've read the OME seems to handle better then with the XREAS system.
I am planning on getting the OME setup soon. Only cause I want a lift on the runner. to me it sits to low for a SUV.

With crozhawk's help I just installed the OME springs and struts all the way around and I couldn't be happier with it onroad and off. the ride is great. I don't miss the xreas. I used medium springs.

I have a Daystar spacer lift, which is great but I am going one better and have ordered front & rear OME springs to go along with the spacers. And I am replacing my rear stock shocks also.

yeah I asked that question too, you won't want the spacers with the springs. The springs will give you the same life the spacers are giving you now. spacers and springs will overstress everything. you might be able to get away with a 1/2 inch spacer in the front for an additional inch of lift, but I'd recommend a diff drop kit if you do that, probably not necessary though.

Might have to revise my order and upgrade to a full lift from OME instead. And not use the Daystar with the OME. Thanks for the heads up on that.

How about this setup?

Will it give me the same height lift or more as my daystar?

on your daystar comfort lift is that the 2.5 front and 1.5 rear. Where did you buy it from and how much did you pay. Wanna sell them to me so you can get OME's. :D

by the way your box is full

I thought the 885s were the medium coils but I think you would get a similar amount of lift to what a daystar 3/2 spacer kit will provide. I almost went the spacer lift route too. It's pretty tempting with the price being so low and all, and with the ease of conversion back to stock, and no need to gut the xreas. But if you're in it to win it so to speak, or in it for the long haul then the daystar stuff will eventually let you down, and be a waste of money. Different strokes obviously but What my "offroading adviser" recommended was that I worry more about how long the lift will last. You have some miles on your truck right? So before too long the factory springs will want to start to settle a bit, perhaps sooner with the daystar spacers installed. New OME parts all around ride like stock, make perfect stock replacement springs, and considering the fact that the dealer sells a 3in lift spring for the 4Runner they'd be hard pressed to refuse warranty service by saying you caused damage, other than to actual suspension components that is. Also, not that the stock springs and struts won't get you pretty far off road, but they're not likely to provide the kind of capabilities a full up set of springs and struts will provide. that's my take on the spacer lifts. The only thing that really kills me is when guys buy the spacer kits and then turn around and pay some joker $500 to install it which would have been enough money to get an actual suspension system, instead of a plastic disk with holes in it. Never know you might learn something doing the install yourself, i did.

I am not sure about that but it does look level, all it says on the kits is a 2.5 comfort kit.

I bought the kit from a member on this board.

I am not sure if I will sell the kit after I take it off, my sister has a 05 SE and she might want to put it on her T4R.

After I take it off and install the OME stuff and she doesn't want it I will put it up for sale.

Agreed 100%, when I went offroading the ride was okay from my wife and me but my 2 passengers were bouncing all around the back.:p So I think stiffer spring might help with that.

Also I been basically using my current T4R to test out the suspension options that I had to choose from that I could install on my 07 SE 4WD which is on order.

Been reading thread after thread, board after board on what mods and etc. to put on my 07.

Thanks again for the advice and information.

Coils Vs. Spacers

So which is one better ? Coils or Spacers. Which one has the better ride on/off road. I don't do much off roading, but if I happen to come across a muddy or deep snowy road I like to play. One other question I have is do I need wheel spacers on both of these? I have plans to go with 285s on stock rims.
