Toytec Superflex coils or OME 895's?

Im going to put a set of OME 885 coils with top plate spacer's on the front of my 07 SE V8 but not sure what im going to put in the rear. Im thinking of getting the Toytec Superflex coils instead of the OME 895's. Im not going to put on a rear bumper and dont carry much rear weight, maybe 200-300lbs max in a short distance. I sold my boat and dirtbikes so i dont haul anymore.

From what ive read, the superflex coils can handle a good amount of extra weight and can obviously flex quite well offroad. For those of you who have Toytec superflex coils, how do you like them? How do they handle on-road?

Do you know how much lift the 895s gave you in the rear? I am about to install them and am worried that it may lift the rear too much leaving me with a factory rake look.

Here's how mine sits.

My goal is roughly a 3 2 look as I'd like to get rid of most of the factory rake leaving me with only 1" rake.

Im going to use the bilstein 5100s all the way around. Since I want the full 3"+ upfront, I am either going to buy the .75 topout or use the .85" setting on the bilsteins. I've heard mixed opinions on running the 5100s at any other setting besides 0" with the OMEs though. Toytec said NO (could just be a CYA thing) and Wheelers said they should be fine. Also a few guys over on the Taco forums that run it with seemingly no problems. Plus it would save me $59. Ha I just don't want to make the 884s too stiff though by lifting with preload vs topout.

Regarding the 895s, that sounds about right. I've read 2.25-2.5" initially that settles down to around 2" after a while. I know what you mean. I don't mind a planted, tight feels. I just didn't want it to be bouncy or jarring is all.

I wonder how a set of Rear FJ springs and 1.5" spacer would ride with the OMEs upfront? This could keep me closer to the 2" mark as i've hard the 5100, due to different compression rates, lift the back .5" as well??

Bump! Anyone else have comments on the 895 versus the Toytec Superflex Coils? I'm in the same boat and would appreciate some more input.

Also does anyone have some hard numbers on how much they normally settle? My car is about 6' 2" and I park in a parking garage with a limit of 6' 7" and have heard some stories of OEM giving up to 4 inches before settling. I wouldn't mind a little extra clearance because the ramps are steep and the low hanging signs and cement beams are pretty banged up from being hit. :shrug:

I am running 895s on my 2007 4R and I feel I ruined the truck's ride. Really. It feels bouncy, harsh and even caused some small rattles to accentuate. To give you an example, at 20MPH my 3 y.o. daughter asks me to slow down because she can't stop bouncing. Off road it rides great (as expected), but I am on the pavement 90% of the time. Ordered the Toytec superflex and hope to get a considerable difference in ride quality.

I have the OME 896's and 886's springs, which are the heavy duty extra stiff ones, on my 2008 and the ride is somewhat bouncy but manageable. With just 895's and 885's it shouldn't be bad. By the way, whoever installs the bilstiens and springs should be able to use the adjuster plate to make it perfectly level. I know mine is.

When do you think you will have the Superflex coils installed? I'm hoping to pull the trigger in the next couple of weeks and would appreciate some input on the superflex.

Hopefully next week or the next. The springs were delivered in Miami and get on a plabe this Friday to Chile, should be out of customs by mid next week. Will keep you posted.

Try the 895E. These springs gave me about 2 1/2 inches of lift, and it rides great. Really great. I have them paired with OME sport shocks, which are supposed to be really stiff, but my '04 rides great. I think the problem is using springs designed for carrying extra load on a stock vehicle. The 895E spring is still more heavy duty than stock and gives lift without the need to tote around extra weight.

Update: I described the problem to the local ARB/OME distributor who happens to be my friend and he suggested that the reason for the hardness/bumpy ride could be the OME Sport Shocks. So I removed them and installed the OEM (stock) shocks to test for a few days. What a difference! I was totally surprised to learn that the shocks are in large part responsible for the harsh ride. I am still going to try the Toytec Superflex rear springs with the stock shocks to see if I get any improvement and will take it from there.

Will keep you posted.

I am a little late to the party but maybe I can help.

I have installed both the 895s and the Toytec superflex coils...

I first had the 895s installed on my FJC and they were super bumpy, when not weighted with gear..understandable...

Then when I swapped over all my suspension to my new 4runner ('07-new to me)..I went with new ToyTec superflex coils and Land Cruiser 80 series OME sport shocks...that was a premium combo...except when going off road for day or longer trips because they sagged a ton with gear or I should say they sagged with a ton of gear...I always over pack...... The reason for the 80 series shocks is that they are longer and give better articulation. They also match up better with the longer superflex coils..

If you go with Toytec superflex..don't freak out when you first install, they are going to look like a 6 inch lift for a day or so until they settle.

I decided to go back to the 895s, since I had never installed them on the Runner.. They are to bumpy and no one likes riding in the back seat.....

So I am going back to the ToyTecs but when I do, I am installing the airbags, so that I can pump them up when on trips and loaded down with gear.
