Toytec ultimate lift front coilover install problem.

hey all,

i'm installing the toytec ultimate lift kit on my runner, and i'm having a bit of difficulty with the front coilovers. i pulled off the old coilover and i'm trying to put the new ones on, but i can't get the control arms to lower enough to get the bottom bolt in. i've completely lowered the coilover in the vain hopes that would allow it to compress just a bit, but thus far my attempts have only brought frustration. i've got a 2x4 that i'm using as leverage to get the control arms lowered, and i've gotten within 1/4" but can't get it that last bit.

is there a trick here? is it possible to drop the lower control arm? i undid the bolt that held it on to the hub assembly (undid the bolt on the other side too, so the anti-sway arm wouldn't fight me), but that wouldn't come off.

any ideas?

if you undid the sway bar and and prying down isint helping only choice is to separate the tie rod ends also i hope u have the hub supported some how
 
THE solution is to loosen the upper control arm mounting bolt (where is attaches to the frame). This will allow the UCA to droop without any resistance. You will want to do this anyway because it will keep the bushings from constantly being torqued from the lift. Once you have everything done, drop it down on the ground and re-torque the bolts. They were originally torqued at stock ride height which causes the lack of droop that you are experiencing.

I would also loosen, and re-torque, all 8 bolts on the rear control arms to release those bushings. (if the rear was lifted)

You will need to do an alignment any way because of the lift.
 
When I installed my new coilovers, I had to stand on the axle where the tire mounts. It also helps to wear some gloves and grab the fender and pull up on it as you press down on the axle. All while I was doing this my friend was using the stock tire iron to wedge the base of the coilover close enough to get the bolt through. Use the part of the tire iron that is for taking the tire off the rim(looks like a giant flathead).
Hopefully the idea above is more sucessful, bc I remember it was not the easiest part.
 
I'm telling ya. Loosen the control arm bolts and release the torque on the bushings. This will allow everything to droop without much pressure.

The stock bushings have a steel insert that the bolt goes thru. That insert is compressed by the bolt between the mounts. This insert also has rubber bonding it to the arm. This rubber will allow the arm to rotate and flex to some degree but with resistance. Loosening the bolts releases the insert and allows it to be reset to the new ride height.
