Toytec ultimate lift noise question

I just installed the ultimate lift from toytec onto my truck last weekend and now i hear a thunk from the rear of the vehicle when i drive about 15 mph or so over bumps. I have searched around but have not been able to find any info. wondering if anybody had any hints or ideas for me. I did not install the diff drop kit though because of my budbuilt skid plate, it pretty much almost rests on the skid plate as is.

I did the kit myself, checked all the bolts after 50-60 miles, and i just walked in from checking them all again. one thing i was thinking though was maybe the upper rear shock mount bolts were not tight enough, they turned pretty easily, i was reluctant to overtighten them at first because i didnt want to squish the bushings too much.

I understand not wanting to over tighten them, we all been there, lol hopefully that will fix your problem.

Did you retorque everything to factory specs with a torque wrench ???

It is very Important to Make sure that is done .I Just mention since you said you were worried about squishing the rubber too much.

You can Buy or rent a torque Wrench , Make sure to do it because you dont want something coming loose out on the trail. It is one thing over looked by alot of people But it is how you keep your Vehicle As reliable as possible. The factory spends An enourmous amout of time developing these numbers ,and they are there for a reason . Just a thought.

Crank the hell out of those upper shock bolts. Sounds like they are not tight enough and thus do not have enough preload on the bushing giving you the thump sound. That's the first thing I'd check since you raised a flag about the possibly not being tight.

I am actually originally from new york but am now living in bergen county. and yes you are correct, i believe it was the top rear shock mounts. i did tighten them down real tight now and the noise has gone away.

can you even do that? it seems to me that the rubber bushings would just completely collapse on themselves when trying to torque them down unless the ft. lbs. was very low. do you know what that setting is?

the shock should have a flat top, use a wrench to hold that and another wrench to turn the nut.. sockets aren't your friend in those cramped spaces
