tracking down a suspension squeak

My 2000 SR5 2wd has a squeak in the front suspension. I hear it most when cornering over bumps. It sounds like the front wheel that doesn't have weight on it as I corner. But it doesn't take much, sometimes I hear it just shutting the driver door. Can anybody point me in the right direction? It drives me crazy somedays.

check the rubber bushing in all the joints, could be bushing wearing out and the metal is hitting each other

Sounds familiar. Ever since I put my lift on I've been having some bad sqeaks up front so today I got under there and shot some WD-40 on the endlinks and bushings all of the suspension and problem solved :bluejump:

You mean problem hidden....I would use some regular grease or replace the bushings cause the wd will wash away in rainy conditions.

OP: check your front bumper, might sound ridiculous but mine squeeks when I shut my door, the welds broke off the mounting brackets and I just read of a few more trucks that this has happened to.

Yeah, I know it's only a temporary thing but I wanted to see if that was it or if it was something else so I know it's a suspension thing now, just gotta see what it is officially and will use some real grease then. I'm pretty sure it was my end links so we'll see.

i've seen some bad thing on this forum with ball joints, if it happen on mine i'll just replace it

Sway bar bushings. That's why they give you a bunch of grease when you buy new ones. I didn't use enough and had to redo mine with more.

No, look for an aftermarket kit, like from Wheelers offroad. They are way cheaper and stiffer than going OEM.

i've seen some bad thing on this forum with ball joints, if it happen on mine i'll just replace it

I know, I know... I probably should replace mine very soon- 162,000 miles on it and I don't wanna end up like Rick, SnowRunner, or any of those guys... Problem is it's a ton of money to get it done and I don't want to do it myself!

yeah - it's hard to bite the bullet and do them because if you're going to replace ball joints, knowing you have to get it aligned, then you might as well do tie rods, then you might as well do ... and the price and scope of work keeps going up ... but I saw those ball joint failure pics too - pretty crazy!
