Traction control kicks in frequently when taking turns (lifted with 33” tires)

Surprised none of you guys have figured out the solution to this. Maybe you guys should be more active on the Facebook group 4th gen 4runners haha. There is a guy by the name Chris Hartwich and he makes custom harnesses to fix this exact issue. He has a 4th gen and the traction control made him almost crash when he was driving in snow and it locked up the brakes. Thus causing him to want to make a solution. He makes a fully plug and play custom harness that connects to the 2 wire plug on the master cylinder assy.. Basically it just makes your truck function with a VSC off / on switch like the 08-09's had from factory. He goes by 4thgenharnesses on Instagram. I suggest y'all check him out. Only downside to his harness is in order to turn the vsc off you have to shut the truck off then back on again and then its good to go. Then you'll have vsc off in 4H and 4L until you want to turn it back on again. But in my opinion that is not a big deal for the functionality you will get. I put myself into queue for one of his harnesses. I went off roading a few times now and in regular 4H mode the beeping and taking over the brake or gas for me was getting annoying.

As much as I like all of the traction control off mods I feel like that is treating a symptom not the cause here. I also get traction control triggering when taking a corner through a dip too aggressively (there is also a heave in the road on my way to work right where I have to brake that can set it off if I'm on the brakes too hard, that's the scary spot). 3 inch lift with 32" tires at 44psi. I had the same tires on before the lift and never had a problem.

I am inclined to agree with the person below that I think this is a suspension geometry problem. That 3 inch lift almost had my lower control arms sitting on the bump stops. I had at most 2 inches of down travel and I think that it's just lifting the other wheel and pissing off the traction control.

I lowered the adjustable coils in the front 1/2" on 1 side and 3/4" on the other (trying to correct taco lean a little). Traction control still triggers but less frequently and requires more aggressive driving to happen. Changing the shock valving also helped a little (I think I decreased rebound damping almost entirely)

I plan to lower it a little more when I get my rear bumper put on to see if I can get rid of it entirely.

I have also been wondering is sway bar geometry might be a factor so I might take the sway bar off for a week and see if this behavior changes.

I'm having this issue as well but I am getting the ABS kicking in on a few tight freeway onramps that turn to the right. It has kicked in on a few slightly curvy roads, usually on a right hand turn of the wheel.

From reading all of the threads on this it looks like there really is no reliable fix and people just live with it. Which is unfortunate as my wife is not going to let me "just live with it" and will likely force me to back out everything or get rid of the truck. I myself could probably live with it but other people drive the vehicle, like my wife.

I find it interesting that not everyone experiences it and everyone reports slightly different behavior and that 33" tires and aggressive driving seem to be the main factors. In my case I need get the right side dipping down hard enough to lighten the left wheel which causes the brakes to kick on the lift wheel to slow it down. The Fact that is only when I turn right in my case but others say left, makes me wonder if their is some suspension tuning that could be done - are right and left slightly different for some reason?

I'm running 285x70x17s.

In the end it is a math problem in the VSC computer which theoretically should be able to be reprogramed with the new suspension parameters. The recalibration sounds like it tries to do it but it doesn't reliably work.

Some times I miss my old 2000 Jeep Cherokee.

Also had this issue on my 4Runner relatively recently, despite lifting and adding 33s about 2 years ago. Plugged in techstream and just wiped out the ZPC which disables traction control as soon as you move, but leaves ABS active. Leaves some lights on the dash but no more pesky braking out of nowhere.
