Traction control woes

Anyone else think its stupid to lose traction control just because the check engine light comes on? Im waiting on an O2 sensor and get to have fun spinning on the snow. Pretty dumb move to shut down an important safety feature with any sort of code.

The traction control is integrated with the throttle control to cut power when there isn't any traction. If the Trac doesn't know what the engine is doing it can't control it. I'd rather have it turn off than work incorrectly.

Every once in a while ill pull the connector for the MAF to disable it so I can spin the tires in the sand for fun.
