I have a 2017 TRD pro in super white. 8100 miles and only upgrade is c4 sliders. Dealer offered me $39,500 for trade-in. Kbb his higher but also seems unrealistic. What do you guys think?

If your up here in California you can sell for 42 easy. But I'd trade it as a new one is only 42 msrp

I'm sure I'll get roasted on here for this, but, I'm working numbers with a dealer for a 2017 raptor in White. To honest about the 4runner I'm just kind of underwhelmed by it. Had a Tacoma before this and miss having a truck. But being 6'2" it felt cramped and the tundra is so outdated and outclassed right now I'm not interested in that.
Those trucks are badass as well. Try to sell the TRD Pro on your own though, you'll get more $

But with trade in I'll be get an almost $4k tax savings. I'd realistically have to sell it for $43k to match that. That $39.5k is what they'd give me for my 4runner even if I just sold it to them. They haven't told me what the lowest they'll go on the raptor yet. So they aren't trying funny business with the numbers on the trade in.
Try Auto trader, ask $42k, give it a week, you'll sell it. Take cash to the Ford store.
Mention this to the Ford stealership, they may match it, but as btgood1 said, they will try to make it back on the other end.
A trade-in creates basically 2 transactions. They aren't going to do it for free…

Dealer logic:
I can afford to give you wholesale on your vehicle, if I sell mine to you at wholesale.
If I give you full trade-in value on your vehicle, I can knock $500 off [retail] sticker and still feel good about it.
If I give you retail value on your vehicle, you bet your dollar you will pay at least retail on mine!
FORD Store: The Raptor's sell for an amazing mark-up. I can most certainly step up on your trade and make it look like I am being generous. Either way, you will get the shaft on one end... or sometimes both...

Get an appraisal from CarMax.
Shop other dealers - it's a very sought after SUV.
I think you can get more for it based on the prices I've seen at CarMax (over MSRP for a used one!)

There's no way they'd get $9k over a new one. I was $43k out the door on mine.

Haven't come to a price yet. Working on getting the markup down since I'm local to the dealership. It'll still be up there even if I get that down because it's a fully optioned raptor.
