Trade my ARB for a TJM?

lol so ur the one that was gonna do the trade for the TJM-15... well i think the ARB and TJMs are both great looking bumpers. The TJM is a little kooler to me bc they are harder to find so it makes it jsut a little better but he said that the TJM he had was for a taco so it didnt stick out as far on the sides as the ARB so it looks kinda funny with the fender flares.

Skydivingdude-yeah thats me lol. The arb ive got is for the taco too so im expecting it to pretty much fit the same.
Kaiser-Yeah its an even trade. Just have to pay for shipping. If my winch doesnt line up it will give me excuse to upgrade to a warn! Im sure if I trade him ill go ahead and order an m8000 and synthetic line and get it mounted when the bumper is off again.

the guy said that the taco ARB bumper sticks a bit further out but i dont think itll be that noticeable... but ya dude if ur debating on it u mind as well jump on it bc i think itll help make ur rig different.

meh you're talking about spending money and time on a purely atheistic thing here, the arb is a great bumper and built very well, both will do the same thing in the same fashion, i say save that money and effort and use it on something else. (shipping's got to be at least $100)
i have found since i got my arb on, that i realized that my runner is already a 1 in a 1,000 so no need for me to get a tjm or anything else to set me apart, already there.
just my opinion and outlook on it, having the choice i may have picked the tjm over the arb when it was time to put one on but at this point i'm happy enough and don;t feel the need for more.

Well, I for one am trying to bring back the 80s with my ARB. I also plan to add a bra, a big bug deflector, a "baby on board" sign, a suction cup Garfield, maybe paint a mural on the back window of a mountain scene with an eagle, some gold Daytons, I dunno. haha
Really though, I think the TJM looks kinda funky from the front. It almost makes the 3rd gen look like it has an underbite or something. But I will say that I like any of the popular winch bumpers better than the stock bumper. I got my ARB used for $200 so I couldn't pass that deal up, but I like the way it looks from most angles better than the TJM. If I were going to get the bumper of my choice it would be Armorology, but I'll keep my $200 ARB instead.

WTF?! brian i hate u so much... how did u get an ARB bumper for $200? ive been looking for one for the past year and havent had any luck. U should sell me urs and get ur armorology! lol j/k :bigok:

Yeah, not a big fan of those either. I'd much rather have the 96-98. I've always been kinda surprised that you don't see the "96-98 bumper swap" mod more often. Cleaner looking lines IMO.
I agree there. I've thought about cutting all of it off before or just cutting the hoops off and leaving the middle section. I want to mount 2 off road lights and 2 fogs, but I haven't figured out how I'm gonna mount everything yet. I'm thinking about flush mounting the fogs in the lower part of the bumper or maybe even hanging them/mounting them on the top bar with the off road lights under them. I think that'll look freaky if I cut the hoops off with all that junk in the middle though. We'll see but I'm sure there'll be a thread whatever I do so everyone can tell me whether it's sick or gay, haha.

haha, I hear that a lot now. My neighbor's friend had it on his Taco and replaced it with an Allpro tube bumper and my neighbor (thinking of my 4runner) asked him how much. He said $200, my neighbor called me up at work, and I said HEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLL YEEEEEEEEEAAAHHHH!!!!!!
I'll make you a deal... if I can find a used Armorology for cheap, I'll sell ya my ARB.??

I may be biased since I have one as well but...
I say keep the ARB, I personally don't like the upper part of the TJM. Secondly the ARB physically looks stronger because the braces for the top tubes are triangulated whereas the TJM isn't. It's your truck, if you like it then do it up!

Well i sent him pics and I'm waiting on him to reply. I'll probably tell him if he wants to trade to pay for shipping because I could care less either way. I love my arb but always liked the arb. I actually thought about just selling this guy the arb and going custom but the only downside to that is I wouldn't have a front bumper for a while.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the TJM need to bolt up to the chassis end plate that would have been removed to fit the ARB?
My personal opinion, I wouldn't do the swap. The ARB is better looking (only just though) but I hate the bolt-on wings on the TJM. That is just cheap manufacturing at the expense of a stronger product. There's a reason TJM left the US market, their stuff is just not as good as ARB.
