I like the Trail Ed looks and some of the nice other perks . I still have to get used to it though , it's quite the difference going from a V8 to the V6 .
Some early thing things I don't like are basically the V6 . It's a noisy motor and drive train (my wife thinks it nice and quiet, so it's all subjective) on the inside and although rated +5 HP than my V8 I for the life of me wonder who figured that out because to me it feel like a 100 hp less . It a dog COMPARED to my V8 06 Sport. since I've only had it for a few days Im sure I will get comfortable with it and used to it . I'm very far from that point now.
I miss having the center diff lock because I feel that the 06 was better for on road and off road driving with having that option to lock or letting the vehicle move power to back/front. Just something I miss. I also like the full time 4wd system but ....... this new one also has a lot of on/off road features my 06 did not and have not been able to test it yet in snow , off road and not much street driving much either . It only has 200 miles on it. So all the above statements are just my very early observations .
I like the 4wd floor shifter for the transfer case . feels very solid and little to no slop.
The drive train also seems noisy and vibrates under heavy acceleration . The trans seem also like slushy shifting .
AGAIN Im not bashing it because I do like it BUT just dont have enough behind the wheel time to make accurate judgements . I cant wait to get it a little more broke in so I can pound it a little on/off road and test all the new stuff out.
I do miss my 4th gen because I really liked that truck . It had about
90k on it so was time for major maint. and other stuff I wanted to add so the right deal popped up on this one so I just went for it .
Mods planned for now is upgrade the tires to an all terrain. Kinda stuck between BFG AT/KO - C rated and the GY Wrangler Silent Armor both in 265/70/17 P rated or C rated . Thats 1st priority since we are getting a snow storm and I dont have much faith in the BS Dueller HL's that came on it from factory. window tint later and springs to level or slightly lift. Im sure the lift will grow longer and longer .
Need tire advice on the above mentioned . input welcome .

I knew you were going to miss the V8. It is quite a refined motor that comes right out of a 75k lexus so when you consider value for the $, 4th gen is HARD to beat - drive train wise (engine/trans from 100 series and transfer case from the 200) Its amazing how many people run at 90k but to each their own.
I got C rated BFG's last thanksgiving. They have over 20k on them now. I and nobody in my family has ever owned AT tires. I cruise on the highway at 85mph and am constantly amazed at how stable they feel. Sure they make more noise, its not really a hum or thumping noise just more "road" noise. I rarely notice it because I listen to music. Wind noise is still greater IMO.
You have a v8, full time AWD, I have had 0 issues in the rain under hard acceleration and braking. Keep it to the speed limit in the turns and you will have no issue.
They have no noticeable wear.
For a tried and true tire, nothing will ever compete with the BFG, nothing.
Discount Tires, Custom Wheels, Rims, Goodyear, Michelin, Cooper Tires has them at a great price. I had them price matched and road force balanced on the Hunter machine. 0 vibration in the wheel even at 113mph.
Regarding snow, I was driving through 24" of fresh powder last year. Again, incredible performance. Lastly, durability. They have never needed air. I have driven over huge jagged rocks at speed and they have come out unharmed. Really amazing when I think back to what Ive hit by accident etc etc. Needless to say they will be replaced with the same tire.
You dont want to hear this, but you will never "get over" the V6. Every time you need to pass someone or haul something and miss that effortless power you will always remember. Sorry, its the truth.
Cant really comment on the drive train vibration, the frame and underlying components are nearly identical except for 2 small (ridiculously small IMO) supporting the front frame pieces. Perhaps its a product of whats under the hood transferring throughout the car.
