trading 2nd gen for 3rd gen

Thinking of trading in the 91 4runner 2.4 ltr for a 3rd gen 4runner. Want a v-6 for hauling the camper. Not sure whether to do the 96-98 or the 99-00. Only want manual tranny, so can't consider 01 and 02. Any thoughts anyone?

I dont know alot about the 3rd gens but I know there worth alot more than a second gen ALOT more lol.. but I see alot of people on the forum with 98's and 99's.. get that 3.4L V6 alot better of a motor.. I would like to get a 3rd gen one day.. My thought???? You should do it..

Manual transmission is already difficult to find. There's nothing much different in the 99+ besides some center console cup holders and headrest holders, wooo awesome.

I owned a '97 and it was nice but having the auto up AND down on BOTH front windows is nice plus 3 power outlets up front and 1 in the hatch area,1 touch open function on the moonroof and finally the headlamps are a major improvement and really the cupholders are a major big deal too especially off road.
Yes,most of the changes were ergonomic and for convenience but IMO they were very welcome and made my '97 feel a bit dated.

Good point. Forgot about the headlights and never new about the window features. Though if the OP see's a 96-98 for sale he shouldn't pass that up for those small changes since the 5-speed is already rare as-is.
