Trading in 2011 LMTD...

Wanted to thank everyone for various inputs on my threads...but i think im going to take the plunge and trade in my 2011 limted for a 2011 Sequoia sr5 5.7

As much as i try i just miss having ample power, i really feel like the 4runner is to heavy or the engine just isnt tuned correctly for her.

It kinda sux cause i love the runner but hey at least its the same family..lol

The sequoia's power is awesome and believe it or not it handles way better than the runner....i guess cause of the ind rear suspension.

Anyway bye the sequoia forums are boring ill miss this one :dammit:

id have ur yota dealer contact their rep and see if the 4runner has a V8 on the horizon, maybe u can wait for that to trade up 2
 
Personally I don't mind the v6 at all. But I come from the days of the 22re and 3.slow. If a big v8 better suits your needs and you don't do much off roading other than dirt roads the sequoia will suit your needs well. Keep mileage in mind though. I have a tundra with the V8 and it is thirsty...
 
I think it's this kind of experience that will keep the Sequoia in production.

Since the 4runner is made in Japan, my guess is they didnt want or need the V8 in the Japanese market and instead want people who do want more room/power/torque (mostly americans) to move to the sequoia, which is made in the US...

Most people seem to be happy with the V6 and those that complain about the lack of a V8 seem to also complain about lack of AWD and seem to lean more towards on road characteristics and towing/hauling/people and cargo moving purposes and are probably better suited to a Sequoia.. at least IMO..
 
Do yourself a favor and get the GX460 instead. I've owned the current gen Sequoia and the past gen GX470 and the 470 was the greatest vehicle ever - lux and small block V8. Haven't been in one but I'm guessing the 460 is the tits. :girl: The Sequoia was too big and too thirsty. Maybe if you live on a farm and have a field to park it in...

I agree get the GX460...built in Japan man!
 
I wouldn't be mad at you if you did. I was digging the new Sequoia, too. The Runner is all I need though. Good luck with it and track back to tell us how it goes.

Your going to take a bath on the trade in, but if money is no object, I agree with LC. It will last you until the oil runs out in 50 years - and still have a good resell value!
 
I agree with your decision. I actually was going to post that I enjoy driving my Sequoia more now. My wife likes the 4Runner due to the size. But I LOVE the 5.7! Honestly the mpg is not that big of a deal in my opinion. Here are some comparison pics of mine. I would love the 4Runner with the V8 but don't think it will happen anytime soon. It is nice to decide which to drive in the morning depending on my mood but 90% is the Sequoia... of course going to mtn's or off roading taking the 4Runner.

Too bad Toyota doesn't have a frequent buyer program -- you would get a free car..
 
How do you find the 'fit and finish' in the Sequoia?

I have an 08 Tundra (granted not the same, but a lot of the same parts, same engine, etc) and even though there is nothing wrong with the truck (besides being very thirsty) I dont have a lot of confidence in the fit and finish. Almost every piece of the dash squeaks or moves when pushed on, buttons seem flimsy, interior panels have more scratches and scuffs than my 96 4runner did....
Thats why i'm looking at trading it in for the 5th gen 4runner. Fit and finish just isn't what I expect from Toyota, and I'm suspecting that its these US made and designed vehicles that are part of the problem....Not that there have been any issues with the Tundra, but not something I want to own long term for the kinda money i paid....
 
I have had my Sequoia for a little over a month now and so far everything has been great. It's an '08 but only has 7k miles on it so I still consider it new. Have not noticed any surface scratches or squeaks. I'm sure everything is the same interior wise up front as the Tundra. As far as mpg comparing to my '06 4Runner V8 about the same. I thought the V8 in that 4Runner was incredible... but love the design of the 5th gen. Handling and driving comfort is much nicer in Sequoia, especially the seats. But I also like the rugged ride of the 4Runner too. I guess I love both which is why I got both :) You really can't compare them as very different vehicles with different purposes. But could you imagine the 5.7 in the 4Runner? Both hold their value and even though the Sequoia/Tundra is made in the US, I have faith in our workforce that we can build quality trucks too!
