Trail silver valance bumper trims to SR5 style

I am planning to join the 5th generation ranks in a couple of months and will be getting a TRD Off Road Premium when available. I've never cared for the silver bumper valance trims going back to the first 4th generations, as I've always felt it was a bad styling choice borrowed from the Avalanche's side cladding (as was the whole Tupperware/plastic lower body trim thing that was thankfully eliminated later). Others may, and will, disagree. Anyway, what I am interested in would be getting rid of those silver pieces on the front and back and staying with the SR5's color-keyed setup. I've read through the TRD Pro bumper trim piece thread, which is about as close as I've been able to find, but got lost trying to figure out what would be required to potentially reverse engineer this to make this happen. Would anyone be willing to spell out the parts involved, and link the related fitment diagram? I haven't found one yet for the SR5 style.

I do not see myself going with aftermarket bumpers, at least in the early stages, so that suggestion may be disregarded.

Simple. You need a front and rear bumper cover. There are many slots cut in your covers that the TE pieces fit into for the clips. You need to buy the covers. Not cheap.

I was hoping to hear that the clips would already be in the right spots, so that's the first step narrowed down. I'm hoping to learn the part numbers next. I know these wouldn't exactly be cheap, but I'm just exploring what it would take right now.

I also forgot to ask if these would come unpainted. Can someone confirm?

I've seen a lot of guys just vinyl wrapping them or even plastidip.

So you want the SR5 looking front and rear bumpers not the trail looking? If so you will Need (option#1) to color match the silver trim parts of the front and rear (trail) bumper because removal of them will leave about 8-12 small slots about 1"long by 1/4"wide and reinstall them. I ended up removing mine trim pieces and lineXing them along with my rear spoiler and rockguards next will be 4" on the front edge of my hood.

Bumper swap is probably the easiest way to go. You could maybe get a dealer to make the swap with another car on the lot with just the cost of labor, but I'd put a feeler out on here. You are just going to inherit someone else's used bumper, though.

Just get an SR5 premium, or wrap/spray the Trail valences the same body color....
I just bought an extra set of valences to play around with colors/lineX/hidden winch options so I have a stock set to put back on later down the road.

This. Most people go the other direction and being in the Denver area gives you good odds on finding a bumper buddy.

bumper Swap

I recently bought a 2017 off-road 4runner back in July and just signed up tot his forum. Anyone with a black OEM sr5 want to trade front and rear bumpers ? I was going to plasti-dip the front and rear silver valances to black this weekend. Thought i'de see if anyone wanted to trade? I'm in the Houston, Texas area.
