I'm thinking of getting an '06 4runner with the V8 option. The ONLY reason I need one of these rigs is tow my 22' boat trailer. Total trailer load is around 4000 lbs. Presently I'm using a Dodge Durango which does a good job, but it's time for a replacement.
I don't think I've ever seen a 4runner pulling a trailer although I've seen a LOT of 4runners in my neck of the woods. Anyone out there that pulls a boat trailer with a load like mine or perhaps even larger? I believe I saw that the 4runner was rated to pull up to 7000 lbs. However, after an experience with a Ford Bronco in the 80's that was suppose to tow a 7000 lb load, I also want to know how the vehicle handles with a load. That Bronco started fish-tailing at 55MPH and scared the heck out of me more than once when I thought my boat was going to pass me on a curve.
If anyone has used the Toyota to tow, could you let me know how the ride was at 65 MPH. Also, what kind of mileage do you get pulling this type of load?
Thanks...
