Trailer wiring grounded to frame?

I'm about to buy a motorcycle/utility trailer and the manufacturer's literature made a big deal about the ground on the trailer electrical plug being grounded to the frame of the truck.

Is the trailer electrical grounded to the frame? I have a 2006 V8 4x4.

If you have the factory installed trailer plug to the left of the receiver hitch, it should already be properly wired to include the ground. I have not had a problem with the one on my '03.

Tech is right. The factory plug provides a proper ground.

They probably mentioned that because the old way of grounding a trailer was by hitching the truck and trailer together, grounding through the coupling. Not the most reliable system, but it worked.

Yes, I have the factory plug. That's what I figured Rook, but thanks for the reassurance!

I agree grounding by hitching is probably not the most reliable way to do it. This is especially true is one uses grease on the hitch ball for lubrication.
