Tranny Cooler dropped while driving..

Like the Title says.... while driving the Cooler dropped to the road... I never heard it dragging... Guy in a Chevy pulled me over told me he saw the sparks.. No fluid leak.. Anyone recommend a top notch Cooler? any other upgrades?

Since there wasn't any loss of fluid i going have the old cooler re mounted until the replacement comes in.

Shit, I’d buy another one of the ones you have! Sounds like that one is tough as all hell if you drug it down the road and it didn’t puke it’s guts out and kill your tranny. Just mount that new one better!

I believe it's OEM.. i had it installed by the dealer a week after i took the truck off the lot brand new in '97.
I think it just rusted out- This was so i could get home. Damn photos are always sideways...

Yeah Id say if your cooler gave you 21 years if trouble-free service, and then survived being dragged under your truck long enough to save your transmission, you should find that exact model! Or hell, keep the ol guy around because he's apparently committed!
 
Called the dealer- They Can't find the PN in their system. Currently the one i have is still working with no leaks. I'm going to re mount it and carry on.
I have other things with the truck that need tending to before i tackle this.

3rd gen 4runners didn't come with external transmission coolers. The original transmission cooling system used the bottom tank of the radiator.
That appears to be a B&M 70264 cooler.

So that means that the dealer installed an After Market cooler? I had no idea!!
I bought the truck and had them install a cooler. I just assumed that it was a Toyo Part!

Sorry for the late update.. Just had it removed check fluids and called it a day.

Why? It looked like you just needed to remount it. If it was installed inline then you had a really nice setup.
 
That's what i thought too...
Upon further inspection when it hit the ground one of the connections cracked... not only did the port break it was bent too.so it managed to leak fluid.... it wasn't a lot.. thats why i thought it was ok..

And to tell you the truth i tried to remove the front grill and broke the 2 top supports.. so it was at that time i decided to remove the cooler and go on the stock radiator.

I now have to look for another front grill and all support mounts. everything was frail and rusted anyhow...

Know of some good looking after market grills? I saw some Mesh ones that i thought would be pretty cool.

Well, after some research it appears they haven't made them for quite some time. Sources say it's just a Hayden 678 with extra mounting hardware to make it more of a "factory fit".

Yeah my comment was a bit of a knee-jerk the minute I saw your post. It's not like those brackets and rubber mounts are hard to get/make and use with any available cooler and mount that way lol...
