Tranny does not go into gear

So i went to the woods last night, parked my truck, slept in it with my new rear seat removal mod (awesome), fired up fine this morning but when you throw it into Drive, NADA! It grinds when it attempts to go into park. It does not actually engage it just stays in nuetral. I ran a search with no success so I am posting here.

I am going to the store right now to buy new fluid and do a drain / fill with a new filter. Im hoping the filter is clogged but who knows. (a flush or drain and fill has never happened under my care since Ive owned it for the last 12,000K miles.)

I have the A/T P light which I found means the tranny failed to engage in park? Weird. Im thinking I need to buy a code reader before I start to get to creative here. Any suggestions? The predator for my old truck would tune and read codes, does anyone know if we have one like that for our t4r's?


Any body got any ideas before I start calling around for a donor? :happens:

So I have read around and I found that there are 3 solenoids in the tranny that might be the root cause of my problem. Im thinking I should have a plan of attack before i do a routine maintenance and hope that solves everything.

Will the solenoids throw codes if they are bad?

Can anyone recommend a good code reader / Bonus if you can tune with it.

I experienced the same thing. Check to make sure your 4wd is not in neutral as this is what caused the problem for me.

When my transmission is in neutral, and i put my transfer case in neutral, THEN put my tranny in park it will light up the A/T P light on my dash. Not sure if that light is indicative of a problem, I've read on yotatech that it just is a warning to let you know that even if your in park, it will roll forward/back if the Tcase is in neutral.
