I've been a proud 4Runner driver since my 1st one in '87. I changed up to an '89 that I drove until 2007. Both had what I would call "even gearing" meaning about the same duration and power curve in each gear during acceleration to highway speeds.
My '89 got totalled and I moved on to '93. 1st gear was super low geared (kind of like low 2), but the rest seemed normal to me.
I rolled my '93 (I'll get to why you need to fix the "saggy ass syndrome" later) and replaced it with a '95.
Given my 4runner history (all manual trannys) I'm used to shifting between 3500 and 4000 RPM and cruising at about 2800 RPM. My '95 runs at 3200 RPM at 60 MPH in 4th and at 3100 at 65 MPH in 5th. This seems really high RPMs to me. I usually only run that high if I'm towing the boat.
Did Toyota change the gearing after '93? All input on '93 - '95 gearing and what RPMs at 60 MPH in 4th & 5th gear would be appreciated.

BTW, I'm new to the new forum thing and would love some tips on how to post pictures or do a user profile. I always like to show off "Baby" (my Do-All '89) and some fun pics up my tits up (or tires up) '93.
