tranny help needed... 04 4x4 V6

i bought my truck used at 34000 miles 1.5 years ago. I noticed it a few weeks after I got it but didn't think much of it. now it's 10K more miles later and I'd like to try to resolve it.

This issue is more noticeable right after I get off the high way at the first stop. as soon as I start to take my foot off the brakes, I feel this little clunk like the tranny is lightly slamming into the first gear.

The idle RPM is normal at around 520 or 530. and this problem doesn't happen all the time. it's only more pronounced right after some highway speed driving. and it happens through out the day too just not every time I'm at a stop. It's more pronounced right after i come to a fast stop.

I'm wondering if I should have the tranny flushed... I'd appreciate any input and suggestions with those who experienced similar issues.

I am always an advocate of fresh fluid so I would say changing it won't hurt. Make sure the correct type of fluid is used. It has to be a suitable replacement for Toyota Type IV (check your book in case I am not remembering properly).

That being said, your problem is most likely the driveshaft. It has grease fittings. Do get the F & R driveshaft greased. Do not over-grease the slip yokes. Thanks Chris, I think my problem is fixed. I had the oil changed last weekend and greased the fittings and now I don't feel it anymore. Come to think of it, 3000 miles ago when I changed the oil I also greased the fitting but only pumped about 2 times. Didn't see any grease squeeze out but the clunking decreased. Didn't put the 2 together till now.
