tranny issue?? your thoughts please!

Okay guys, today I was heading to work and I was going to pass someone. So I put my foot to the floor and the truck felt like it was starting to downshift but there was some funky delay and what sounded like my revlimiter kicking in, except from what I remember the engine wasn't screaming. so about 2-3 seconds later it got the tranny in gear and away it went. So I called Toyota and have an appt for 8am on Friday. Also over this weekend while at a gas station that was full I was sitting there waiting for a spot, I had put it in reverse since I thought someone was backing out but they didin't so I put it back in drive then about 30 seconds later it felt like it finally poped into gear with a very strong lurch forward (good thing my foot was on the brake).

Now last week I changed my engine oil, l transfer case, & diff fluids out. I'm 99% sure I did drain the engine oil and NOT the tranny fluid. Do you think any of this could be related? I'm going to loo at everything when I get home tonight.

Also should my Transfer case have a magnetic drain plug? Cuz it didn't.

If you did drain the transmission, you wouldn't be the first. It's been posted about here, and I've had friends do it. You can't drain most of the transmission fluid, so you'd have enough to run on probably without damage. The last guy had his changed at the dealer and apparently all was well.
 
starting in 04, the 4th gen 4runners didn't come with a tranny drain plug, so this is not possible unless you had the tools to drain it. Unless you tow, no reason to drain it. Mine has 135K with no maintenance and is rock solid. Also, tranny is red with a sweet like smell, so it would be obvious.

Okay, after Toyota had the truck for a day, they basically told me it's A OKAY.

They said their computer checkout can see fluid levels which were good. Test drove with no repeat. (Well durr.... I couldn't repeat it either) No codes or anything stored either. I guess I will have to wait till it does it again, then jump on their desk for them to actually do something!

Can anyone confirm that the factory powertrain warranty is 60months/60K?

I'm sure it's just in my mind, but yesterday on the drive home from the dealership. I was going about 45mph and then flooring it for a second after it found the right gear. Of course I couldn't replicate my previous hesitation in the tranny, but the truck seemed like it shifted and accelerated harder than before. Could it be they reset the ECU and my truck is now relearning how I drive?
