so, apparently my issue isn't the actuator in the t-case. the tranny shop tells me the transmission is the issue. parts are so damn hard to find and expensive once you do find them, he's trying to find me used trans instead. anyone ever heard of ppl having transmission issues with a Toyota at 67000 miles? one of the main reasons I bought this damn thing was because they're supposed to be indestructable, and will last forever! what the hell?!?! I was stuck in snow for god's sake!

Assuming you have the V8 which is indicated by your signature, you are the first failure of an A750 trans from Toyota. Were you flooring your stuck car in the snow w/o warming your car up. Did you just hit the gas the minute you started your car when it was cold spinning the wheels etc?

yes, I was stuck in the snow, trying to get out. no, i didn't just start it, I had driven home from work and got stuck in the snow. no I was not hammering the gas while shifting. I was using the brakes to stop the tires from turning before shifting.

I put a call into Toyota, here's hoping they can do something for me....

While you were trying to get out of the snow did you accidently hit/put it in PARK? When the sprag goes it's usually due to strain on it while in Park. I don't know much about modern auto trans (when they went electric control) so there may be another "sprag" I don't know about that he's referring to.

I have a 2003 V6 4x4 with 80k miles on it with no problems.
Is the V8 trany the same as the V6?

For the 2003 V6 no, the V6 got the same 5spd tranny in 05.

Yours is the A343F, the V8 has A750F since the beginning.
