Trans only has first gear

Trans wont shift. It's a 4x4 automatic I have recently installed a new motor and trans. Just got it started today and drove it. Park Reverse Nuetral and Drive engage fine. When in drive it doesn't shitf. I was wondering if it may have to do with the Throttle body cables need adjusting?

well i've put in a tranny in a bronco and it wouldnt shift at first. i just had to get all the cables adjusted right. so that probably what it is.

Alright now..... Here's an idea: Does anyone out there have a pair of calipers and know how to use them? I guess a ruler would work too. Maybe SOMEONE could look at the cables on the throttle body on a working car so I could get a basic idea of where they should be set at.

i had mine set all the way loose and just tightened it up as needed....

once I installed the spedo cable it started shifting
