Trans slippage or torque converter slip

Anyone experience this and it is a sign of things to come?

2016 TE with 48K miles.
I drove for about 10 miles in the morning and after a couple stop lights I let off the brake and gave it gas in usual fashion and it was like the trans or torque converter slipped for about a 1/3 of a second before it sort of jerked and engaged. A few days later I haven't experienced this again.

I doubt any mechanical trouble with the transmission or torque converter would be one and done. If you're concerned, it might be time to drain the fluid out of the transmission, wouldn't hurt to change it anyway, especially if it hasn't been done before. There are tutorials online on how to do this, it's not hard at all. Drain the fluid through a coffee filter, check for any excess metal shavings, etc. Be sure to refill with genuine Toyota ATF WS. Up to you whether you want to drop the pan and change the filter (pickup screen) at that mileage. Although there are magnets in the pan that you can check for debris if you believe there is a problem.

Honestly what you describe sounds more like a brake that was stuck for whatever reason. I'd probably be chasing that before I go after anything that has to do with the transmission.

the brake pads had a tighten caliper brake pad ...
look up the pads and bleed the brakes.
50K miles had a lot of traffic and change the pads..
many had to change the pads with no traffic 80K miles .

Exploded reliability myth

My 2017 SR5 48,000 miles drivability problem was dealer diagnosed as defective torque converter. Yesterday Toyota approved “new” transmission under my platinum service agreement (powertrain 5Year warranty is expired). Hopefully my out of pocket costs will be minor but I am thankful for having purchased extended warranty.
I plan on a 30,000 mile tranny fluid drain & fill from now on. I seem to overcome the TC shudder upon mild acceleration @ 30 MPH by using the “S” shifting instead of “D”.
