Trans temp A/T Fluid over heat while idling

Its not a bad price if youre solving the problem....but just throwing parts at it and hoping....youre right that is a steep price to pay. Especially for an intermittent problem.
Now that the weather is heating up Ill have to let her sit with the engine on and AC running while I run in and get my Chipotle fix.
What do you guys think of this plan of attack....
1) Install a temp sensor between the trans and radiator to start keeping track of the actual temps.
2) Try to recreate the intermittent problem by eating lots of Chipotle
3) once the problem is repeatable...throw parts at it until its fixed.
Other than a new temp sensor and new fluid.....what else could be causing the issue?

There's a thread either here or in YotaTech about having a temp sensor between the tranny and stock ATF cooler in the radiator.
It should be as close to the outlet to get the correct temp reading. The ATF outgoing hard line was cut to allow the sensor kit to be installed.
have you checked if the wires or connector in the stock sensor are still good? they get brittle with age and heat
