Transfer case shifter knob removal

How do you remove the shifter knob for the 4WD in a '14 trail edition. It's the manual type as opposed to the electronic selector. The transmission shifter unscrews easily. Does the transfer knob unscrew as well? Thanks in advance.

If it's the manual type then it should unscrew just like the normal shifter

Thanks. That's what I thought, but didn't know how hard I had to turn it. I didn't want to crank on it too hard and damage something below. Seems like its on there pretty good.

I have same question. Seems it will break. Did you get it off?

Get a good grip on it, and turn it counter-clockwise. It's tight initially, but will unscrew.
