Transfer Case Skid Plate missing??

Just bought a 2001 4Runner SR5. For the most part the undercarriage is spotless ... that being said, I'm new to 4wd Toyota's but it appears that a skid plate is possibly missing that should be protecting the transfer case...

I could be wrong but if anyone has a pic of a stock runner undercarriage in that year it would be great. If it is suppose to be covered I'm stumped because the vehicle is immaculate underneath and doesn't appear to be damaged. I'll try to get a pic in the morning when I put it on the lift to change the oil.

Thanks for any help in advance!

these 4runners dont have transfer case skidplates. they have 2 skidplates in the front, one for the radiator and one for the front diff/steering rack. some models also have a plastic skid on the driver side that covers a part of the frame under the fuel filter.

if thats something you are really worried about, look up budbuilt skidplates. they offer a full bellypan skid that covers clear back to the transfer case.

edit: well... i take it back, there should be a small skidplate right on the bottom of the transfer case

Ok. See I have the small one running up the drivers side.. but there are bolt holes and whatnot.for a small one on the passenger side.. don't think it's really necessary to buy.an aftermarket one seeing as I won't wheel much.. but maybe seeing if someone had taken theirs off for one reason or another and wanted to see it.
