Transmision Advice

Hoping someone has seen this or has an idea what is going on:

My 4 Runner, after it gets fully warm and has been driving for 15 - 20 minutes starts to do the following...the first 15-20 min the truck is normal:

When I start from stopped, the truck will shift HIGH from 1st to 2nd gear (3500 - 4000 RPM's), but then shift fine for all gears from 2 - 4 (or 5) with no issues?

What could cause this?

The check engine light comes on and goes off a few times as well since this started a few weeks ago...

Dont have the cash to get a big fix done right now so hoping for some good advice, unless I am screwed in which case I will have to figure it out.

Normal operating temp changes a lot, however is your etc button on to start. this controls the trans to shift at higher , but to be honest i think mine shifts around that

My ETC button is off...

Also, the Runner shifts normally for the first part of the drive and then you can hear it revving really high (compared to normal) before it shifts...

LIke I said, it never did it before, always shifts normal, with no issues...With this issue, you can hear the engine really working before it shifts...

Could it be the tranny?

Sounds like a sticky shift solenoid.

Check it for codes. If it's tripping a CEL, my guess would be a shift solenoid on it's way out.

I have a similar issue. Except mines only the first time it shifts from 1st to 2nd. It revs until it gets to about 2800 RPMs and then it's fine after that and never does it again until the engine cools back down. I haven't thrown any codes or anything like that.

That's normal. It's going to rev high when cold.

Yeah, i love redlining mine in 1st when i just start it up in winter.

So after a LONG while of seemingly no issues, my check engine light came back on...I got the code reader this time...P0755 - Solenoid B Malfunction..

Is this someting I can fix? If not, how much am I looking at to get it fixed by a mechanic?

If I can do it, what part number am I looking for and what's a good price?
