Couple quick questions:
~You're sure its transmission fluid leaking from the bellhousing?
~If so, do you have any performance issues in terms of shifting, transmission operation? ~How much fluid are you losing from this leak?
~What is the mileage on your vehicle and do you have an extended warranty?
I would assume that the failure is something as simple as a transmission fluid pump cover gasket, or input shaft seal. This is the first I have heard of a bellhousing leak from a 4th gen, so I assume its not all that common.
wound up refilling it with Sunoco transmission fluid through the auxiliary transmission cooler.
If the added fluid was not WS (it probably wasn't) you'll be needing to get all new fluid in there as soon as possible. Don't know if I'd be driving it unnecessarily the way it is, but maybe Blackworks can comment on that.
Inside the bellhousing..is DRY. So if tranny fulid is leaking it's coming from the torque converter or the front transmission seal.
Sorry for resurrecting an old thread.
Question for you... do you remember the size of the torque convertor bolts? Also, any tricks to getting them off? I'm trying to pull my engine right now and we're stuck on this point.
Thanks!
