Transmission cooler lines flow chart?

Looks like it may be warm enough here in NY this weekend to install my B&M cooler and Magnafine filter on my 1997 T4R.

There are 2 metal lines that change to rubber before going into the radiator/cooler.

Which carries fluid to the radiator/cooler and which brings it back to the transmission?

Which should have the Magnafine on it?

Which one should I use to push the old fluid out of the system, the one going out to the radiator/cooler?

IOW, does the sump hold the clean, cooled fluid, which then goes through the internal screen/filter, up into the tranny and then out to be cooled and back to the sump?

Or does the cooled fluid go into the tranny and then down through the screen and out to the radiator/cooler?

Which way do it flow?

Search for BFADs write up. He's got pics that are labeled so you can see which lines are which. Where you put he filter is preference. I'd put mine from the tranny out to the cooler...

OK, got it, BigFishAllDay...but that doesn't show the lines right off the transmission and it's for a different cooler than I have, I have the 70264, not 70268.

it doesnt matter what cooler you have flow pattern is the same.

The lower line is the feed line, an the upper line is the return line.

That is OFF the transmission.

As for the cooler, it doesn't matter which goes where. There is no flow preference on them.

The filter should be on the line OUT I the transmission.

After a drive, slide under the truck and touch both factory tranny cooler lines, the hotter one is from the tranny to the cooler, the colder one is the return line. Hard to mess that up.

I know that but I still don't know what the flow pattern is. Which of the two metal lines coming out of the transmission is sending hot fluid out from the tranny to be cooled, the one closer to the front or the one closer to the rear?

I just looked and they bot look at the same level, ones about 6 inches in from of the other.

Here's the lines I was looking for, thanks. But does this jive with Doc2012 saying the lower is the feed line and the upper is the return?

Which line is going to the cooler and which one is going back to to the tranny?

if you're under the truck looking at the radiator, the passenger side line is the hot fluid coming from the trans and the driver side is the cooler fluid going back to the pan.

if you mount the cooler sideways with the inlet/outlet facing towards the passenger side, make sure to connect the hose with the hot fluid going into the cooler on the bottom, with the cooler fluid exiting the top so no air gets trapped.
