transmission diengages in 4LO...

transmission disengages in 4LO...

This has happened twice. Once in 2 feet of snow trying to get unstuck, and the other time trying to pull out a tractor. The rpm's would get to high and the transmission would disengage.

I guess I don't understand what 4Lo is for.

What do you mean "transmission disengages?" What, exactly, happened? How high were your RPMS?

Wow, it's been awhile since I've been here.

I was trying to pull some out of the mud and put the 4runner in 4lo. I was stepping on the gas hard and while the 4runner was pulling the motor revved up high and shortly after the transmission disengaged. Once I let off of the gas and the rpm's can down it reengaged the transmission.

A month ago I started having problems with the 4wd engaging. I would turn it to 4hi and it was like something was binding up and it would release with a loud snap. So, It's in the shop now. Still waiting to hear what's wrong.
