Transmission fluid change on an 04?

After reading some posts I'm still not sure whether it should be done or not.

I have an 04 SR5, bought it with 84,000 miles and now have 101,000. The dipstick has a sticker that says it's maintenance free under normal driving conditions and should not be changed.

Upon checking it, it's pretty dark. A lube place nearby can do it for $180. I'm not sure whether it was done before I bought it (close to a year ago).

Nothing in the scheduled maintenance, even at 120,000 miles says to do it. Some DO recommend it. So should it be done?

Yes, do it. I'll bet your Toyota dealer will come close to the same price and use the correct Type IV fluid.

Is this the V6 or V8?
I'm assuming the V6 because of the dipstick (not sure what year the V8 started using the sealed tranny with the WS fluid.)
Search the forums for the how to DIY and save alot of money. There's a drain plug and it's easier than an oil change. The system holds more than will drain out so do several fluid rotations, maybe a few hundred miles apart, until you get reasonably red fluid. I can usually drain 5 litres at a time by jacking up the front of the truck.
