Transmission fluid change

My '99 just rolled over 100K miles. I have already done all maintenance except the trans fluid change.
I'm not sure if fluid has ever been changed, but I haven't done it since I got the truck at 60K miles. Let's assume it has never been changed.
I would like some opinions on this fluid change. I've heard all the horror stories about trans failure after this type of fluid change. I'm thinking about dropping the pan and changing what is there followed by doing this every 15K miles until the fluid stays clean.
Any ideas, experiences, suggestions??

I would do a fluid exchange, using a machine. The only time I've heard of a failure is when they put a cleaner into the transmission. Don't let them put anything but the correct transmission fluid in your vehicle and you should not have a problem. The nice thing about the exchange is that it will replace all of the fluid.

I have a small shop with a lift. I really wanted to do it myself, but I know I could do a full fluid exchange as I have seen in other articles.
