Transmission Fluid Smell after drain/fill?

Anyone ever had a reoccurring transmission fluid smell they can’t find?

Recently did a drain/fill on transmission (drain pan, disconnected cooler line and flushed fluid 1 qt at a time). I have done this numerous times over the years, never with issue.

However I have a problem lately with a transmission fluid smell when I come to a stop. At first I thought it was because I spilled some, so I powerwashed the motor real well, and that didn’t fix it. Checked fluid level numerous times to make sure I am not over filled, it’s sitting right where it needs to. Even replaced the dipstick o-ring without an success. Over the holiday weekend drove over 2k miles down to texas and back without any issues. Only smelling the fluid upon stopping, none while driving. Connections to the external cooler are tight and dry (rad is bypassed). Checked the power steering and there is not any leaks there.

I have crawled underneath it and do not observe any wet areas, let alone any puddles of fluid. Brake cleaned pan and it's dry still.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Have you pulled the shifter trim to see if the boot for the 4WD shifter is ripped? You may be smelling gear oil instead of trans fluid.

Had the same thing, smelling trans fluid at stops, turned out to be fluid coming out the front trans breather. Wasn't a lot to begin with so the air flow u pushing it back towards the tcase, turned out to be my trans starting to over heat because my TC wasnt always locking up. Ur resent trans change is most likely a red herring unless u over filled said.
