TRANSMISSION ISSUES i think?

I just got a 89 toyota 4runner sr5 v6 4x4 and its mint but wont move. When you put it into gear the driveshaft spins but wont go into gear and move? I tried putting it into 4x4 hi and lo and still nothing. starts and runs fine. not sure if i should just buy a new tranny and transfer case for $400 out of a junkyard and pay the $800 for install or if there is a cheaper fix?

This thing was a steal!!! new tires new brakes motor work front end work needs this issue fixed and a muffler. even found a mienkeke reciept in the glove box for a lifetime muffler!

Is the Transmission Leaking fluid? Is there fluid on the dip stick when the 4runner engine is warmed up? Always check the transmission fluid with the truck engine on and engine warm.

no leaks let it warm up and nothing visible from the outside

The driveshaft spins?????? Is there any noise from the rear? If your Tcase is working the front should move, are the hubs locked?
