Have a leak on my transmission. Have attached two pictures with red arrows to show where the leak is coming from. I think it is a seal but need other opinions and if possible someone to let me know what seal it is/ what it looks like and how to repair. Thank you.

I can't remember what the part is but I believe there is an O-ring behind it. Someone else some time ago had a leak at the same spot.

Yes. It is an o-ring that needs to be replaced. Simply remove the retaining bolt and pull out the plastic plug and replace o-ring. I had a standard sized o-ring in my o-ring kit that fit. No need to spend masssssssive cash for dealer o-ring. Remember to lube the o-ring with trans. fluid before careful assembly.

I've developed the same leak wondering about the correct part to stop it...

Hello!

With regard to the leaking O-Ring near the back of your transmission (from your post on 10-18-2013, 11:26 AM)...

Did you ever get the correct part #'s &/or specific O-Ring sizes? I realize your leak & post is from 12 years ago so maybe you don't recall or have the records handy, but maybe you do. Fingers X'd!

I've just developed the same leak on mine and I've been able to get the part #'s for the sensor & sensor seal just below the leaking culprit, but finding info about the part that's actually leaking is proving to be elusive. The Techs in my local Toyota shop said the leaking "port" was an historic remnant from when this transmission had previously been connected to the speedometer via a physical cable & the thing that's leaking is just a plug for a now unneeded "port".

If anyone needs the part names / #'s I did find, here they are:
89413-24010 Sensor, Transmission Revolution
96721-24018 O-Ring (for Transmission Wire)

(These parts are for a '98 3.4 L RWD Auto)

Thanx much in advance!!!

Update:

The part # for the leaky O-Ring is 90301-18004 (about $5.00 US). The part # for the sub-assembly (Speedometer Driven Hole Cover (I BELIEVE this includes both the cover AND the corresponding O-Ring (about $42.00 US)) is 33403-35220. The bolt that holds the cover to the trans is part # 91651-40825 (about $5.00 US).

These parts fit a '98 RWD 4-Speed Automatic Trans - cannot speak to fitment in other years / configs.
