Transmission noise when going from park to drive

Not sure how else to word it.

Basically, it happens whenever I'm parked for a while. I start it, put it in reverse and back out. Then, as soon as I put it in drive, I hear a clicking noise from under the dash, down by the brake pedal. It's only for about a second or so. Not real sure what it is.

If I'm driving and put it in park, then drive, it does nothing. It seems to only happen when it's been parked for a while.

My brother said his Grand Cherokee does that and it's his brakes calibrating? I've never heard of that before. Any ideas?

I have the same problem. In every morning I backup from my long drive way, I can hear one click noise around brake/gas pedals.

Weird. I wonder what it is.

I would guess it could be the ABS cycling/checking.

What ever could it be? This sure seems like a mystery to me! I bet something like this has never been discussed to death here or anything. You could try a search, might get lucky!
