Transmission Noise

Went exploring with my 92 3.0 5-speed 4-runner last month, and accidentally found a big puddle that was too much for me to handle. Got the front end in and stopped before I sunk the rig. Water level was about 1/2 way up driver side door, with the passenger side door clear but water at running boards. Got out and towed it out about an hour later.

Everything was fine but the clutch had a small pulse and stutter. This has all but went away, but now especially when cold the transmission has a whine to it. Since the puddle it would whine occasionally when the clutch was pressed in, but now it's starting to whine constantly. This constant whine is hit and miss and it doesn't do it everytime.

Did I get dirt/water in there somehow? If so what is recommended to get this cleaned up. Thanks guys.

That's confusing.

It's possibile some water got in there. It wouldn't hurt to drain the trans and put in some new gear oil.
