Transmission Options?!?!?!

Hey fellas,

Think my tranny took a dump on me this afternoon. I'm driving down the road....accelerate to pass a slow moving car and the engine just free-revs....shortly there after...it just ......wouldn't go any further...it was like I was in neutral. It's done something similar once before...but was just low on tranny fluid shortly after I bought it. I topped it off and it was fine. Today though, it APPEARS to have plenty of tranny fluid according to the dip stick. If I have to replace the tranny...which, if any can I go with? Are the bell housings and whatnot on the 2nd gens all the same, or do I need to track down one out of a 92? That or does anyone know what the avg. price of a rebuild is??

One from a 1st or 2nd gen 4X4 should work, just get one to match which engine you have.

Can you change it out yourself?I'm assuming you have a V6.I've sourced a couple of engines and trans from Tiger Japanese Auto Parts LTD - Toyota & Lexus scroll down and you'll see the 3vz AWD It was 400 last I checked and you can check the shipping on their site.I don't work for them.we just used them for a 300zx eng and some Hondas.If you can't change it yourself you might want to have someone rebuild yours just incase of a problem your not out the installation price or maybe the shop will buy it and guarantee it.That's what we do and charge a little for the guarantee.

****update!!!****

Well...I walk outside yesterday to fire off the Runner just to keep the battery fresh....out of curiosity....I drop it in gear...and what do you know...she moves!! So, I call up the ole man, and tell him I want to drain the pan and flush and refill. On the way to his house...it pulls the same stunt....I shut it off and let it sit 15 mins....fire it off....and away we go again.....repeat....repeat.

From this, I have now all but concluded I may have a clogged tranny filter.

What says you guys?
