I have a 2002 4Runner Sport with 113K miles. About a month ago we noticed a putter in the transmission between 50 and 60 mph and also when accelerating from a stop. We drained and filled the transmission fluid, replaced the throttle body and replaced the solenoids. Unfortunately, we still have the putter. We can't figure out what the problem might be and we wouldn't expect the tranny to go out with only 113k miles, but then again who knows. Any ideas that wouldn't involve having to drop the $$ on a new transmission?
We also have metal rattle sound from the front end passenger side. It rattles at idle when starting in the morning and during acceleration. We are assuming we need to replace the heat shield, as we don't get the rotten egg smell of a bad cat.
Any thoughts or ideas you guys have are greatly appreciated. We have only had this car for a year and I really don't want to have to go get a new one. I love it!
